Dear
Al, (Mr. Aronowitz) ...it’s me
again
I'm
just writing to tell you some things. First off how much I appreciate
I
had no idea who he was. He was in a poem. He must've been. Somebody important. I
figured/Everyday I thank my lucky star that I stumbled into those
two precious words. As a
self proclaimed writer/struggling everyday/ nights too.
THE
BEATS mean something like: two golden coins in your pockets that you jiggle/in
your hands to remind you that there's Something beautiful/beatific about the
struggle. Words can't describe how I felt when I read some passages
In
conclusion: What I really want to say is that
your website is a goldmine.
P.S.
My thoughts are in fragments/ I still haven't read On the Road in its entirety
or any of the so called Beat Books... I just can't find them anywhere.
over
here. every now and then I discover a fraction of a page/ or a poem or
some thought/in the internet.
(I
just needed to get these thoughts off my head)
Didn't
mean to bug.

MR.
OWSLEY, I PRESUME:: I think we did
meet in the past, long ago. Thanks for your advice.
I suffered phlebitis in both legs (months apart)and still have blocked
arteries in them with aneurysms in the back of each knee. But happy to see
you’re still alive and well as I am, though I'm 16 years your senior,
currently suffering from gout, which keeps recurring from time to time and which
now hobbles me.
Gout
is a weird one, for sure, something to do with a mixed diet, unknown in those
who eat only veggies or only meat (personally I follow the latter course).
Based on your article about the heart attack in which you said you were
68, and gave the date as 1996, I figure you to be 72, which is only 6 years
older than I am (66, today) rather than 16.
Right now, I'm swamped, putting out a constantly expanding
website each month, but I would like to link to your website in my peculiar way
of making the link as part of my website. If you don't mind, I'd like to
identify you by name, which is famous in the counterculture. If you're in Australia, you're lucky.
Or
smart. I came here as a result of
my dreams, outlined in my website essay on the Ice Age Storm.
Of course I found the best place on the planet and a far more democratic
system (but still with major problems, such as Westminster executive and a
"preferential" voting which restricts sitting parliamentarians to only
two parties). We have compulsory
voting and this results in 96% turnout. Since
I believe voting should be a requirement of holding citizenship.
I see nothing wrong with fining those who don't register and vote,
although removing all rights of a citizen from those who won't vote is just as
good... The weird (but widespread
in the USA) idea that voting is a "privilege" and should be voluntary
is utter nonsense, as you have seen in the last election.
The US is not, and never has been, a democracy.
Setting the voting day on a working weekday is symptomatic of a desire to
limit participation--- we vote on
The
U.S has been taken over by a coup and now homegrown Nazis are in control.
Coup?
Nice phrasing but I do not agree. I
saw the whole fucked up mess, and it appears as though it was the result of
utter and complete incompetence on the part of the public (who have not demanded
a run off election), the Democrats (who failed to run on the outstanding record
of the most popular and competent President in history) and all of those who run
the voting system, who set up and allowed widespread vote fraud-- Florida itself
has been famous for vote fraud since I was a little kid.
Ralph Nader, the third candidate, like Perot before him should have been
cause for a run off, no one should take office unless approved by at least half
of the actual votes cast, never mind that number may not represent a quorum of
those eligible. My figures suggested Clinton had only 15% or less of
the eligible voters votes. It is a
travesty to call this result 'democracy', no matter how you cut it.
The
bottom line is that almost no-one in the US believes that their vote matters,
and that the ones who are elected will not do what people want anyway...
Root cause? Corruption by
the drug traders' massive resources of money has destroyed all hope of real
government (see my essays) That the
US has an incompetent, evil and foolish illiterate for President is only fitting
in a way. I hope he doesn't do too
much damage externally, the "800 kg gorilla" which is the armed and
very dangerous USA threatens all of us globally.
I
am very glad to be out of there.
Working
alone, I need a 3-month lead-time and am now finishing readying my March 1
column. I'm afraid I'll have to put
your website in my April 1 column, with your permission. To do so, I can use your bear as a graphic plus a little
resume of who you really are andwhat you've done, a bio so to speak.
I am very happy to hear from you.
Best,
Al
Please
send me any text you plan to use so I can check it.. I don 't object to your linking.
I am about to add some more political essays. I do the website to share my ideas as well as my art with
others. The (3-eyed) Bear is a
central motif of the back cover art of Bear's Choice.

Bear
